Almost everyone seems to have a trauma nowadays. Is the recognition and openness about trauma increasing? Or is the word being overused, diminishing its meaning? How do we define trauma, and how can we contribute to recovery and prevention? A co-creation project between ARQ (national psychotrauma centre) and Theatre Frascati.
In a world that appears to be hardening, with increasing global crises, researchers advocate for greater understanding of trauma and collective resilience, even beyond the therapy room. This evening, program maker Mara van Nes and Jetske van Heemstra (clinical psychologist at ARQ National Psychotrauma Center) explore trauma in the context of theater. Can this cross-pollination between art and science help us better understand trauma? Can it offer new ways to tell stories about the diversity of causes and manifestations?
At Frascati Producties, Mara and Jetske connected theater makers Tea Tupajić, Merel Severs, Basak Layic, and Jelle Huizinga with experts from ARQ. Together, they combine their knowledge and creativity to explore trauma in new ways and shape it into forms of expression.
On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the findings were consolidated into an evening at Frascati filled with performances and talks about various forms of trauma, trauma treatment, and (collective) resilience.
